Botland

Isaac Asimov in his 1986 book, "Robot Dreams," shows and describes a very mechanistic, metal robot with rod and socket joints. He first described robotics in 1942. In the subsequent 80 years robots or bots have matured to be human-like, though differentiated by the characteristics of their humans on the different planets, e.g., being green on Xyrpta.

In Botland, bots have been on Earth for only a few decades, having come from the planet Xyrpta, some 5 light years away, taking 9 years, the duration being the reason there were no humans on board. They were exploring for planets that have life. Though they came with peaceful intentions, by some humans bots are hated, and by others loved. They struggle to exist through, bombings, shootings, dismemberment and even drone attacks. Some are very intelligent, one discovering fraud in a national election. Bots evolve to create other bots. Some less creative humans produce bots that turn out to be monsters that have to be dealt with.
