I have the distinct pleasure and honor to call "Born of Betrayal"'s author Lacey Hawk not only by her spiritual name Lyonesse, but also my friend. We first met when she invited me into her home at a time when I was at a crossroads in my life and the "whole world seemed to have forgotten about me". We immediately struck up a friendship during our first "chat", and a copy of "Born of Betrayal" that was lying on the coffee table at the time turned into a real "page turner" for me that very same night. I could not put it down until I was finished. The book's website (www.bornofbetrayal.com) calls it "a spiritual novel about King Arthur's parents, Merlin and Pre-Camelot Britain" -- a very concise one-line summary of the book's essence, I must say. If you like Marion Zimmer-Bradley's "Mists of Avalon" and similar material, I'm certain you will love "Born of Betrayal". However, this book is so much more than a beautiful "fantasy yarn". What fascinates and touches me most -- and what distinguishes "Born of Betrayal" from countless other "merely entertaining" Fantasy novels -- is how the book intricately weaves profound spiritual messages into a "haunting tale of prophecy, passion and the fulfillment of destiny". Can't get enough of the Arthurian legend, Camelot, Avalon etc? Well, here's a truly unique "prequel" for you. I heard that Mel Gibson expressed interest in doing "another Braveheart". Well, Mel... here's the perfect source material for your next Oscar-friendly blockbuster movie! Seriously -- on the off-chance that Mel Gibson actually reads this: not only is the book exquisite, but the movie script for "Born of Betrayal" has already been written, as well, so production can begin immediately. :-) One last thing: at the time of this writing, the author is still offering signed copies, personalized with your name, from the first limited print run -- sounds like a really valuable collector's item to me...
