In 1956, he became the world youngest grandmaster at age 19. In 1969, he defeated grandmaster Tigran Petrosian to become world champion. In 1972, he lost the world championship to Robert Fischer during their match in Reykjavik, Iceland. Spassky's chess games in this collection are arranged by opening to show his opening repertoire.
