Boomer Boyhood: Growing Up in Post-World War II America

With the end of WWII, millions of U.S. military personnel came home, anxious to get on with their lives from where they had left off before the war. This included getting married, and starting families as their parents had done before them. For those of us "Baby Boomers" born starting just after the conflict ended, we came along during a period of numerous changes. To name a handful, these included those found in politics, social norms, interpersonal relationships, even to some of the most creative music ever made. The effect from all of these, and more, can still be felt even now many decades later. No matter where you grew up, everyone is part of the times when it happened. While we didn't have to fight global fascism in the 1940s as the "Greatest Generation" did before us, we had our own share of unrest. There was the Cuban Missile Crisis, the Vietnam War, race riots, and political assassinations of well-known American leaders. All of these would shape our outlook of the future world we would one day be helping to run. There were also incredible moments of achievement, such as NASA's space program putting the first humans on the surface of the Moon, plus other dramatic advances in science, medicine, and technology. Often depicted in TV shows, and movies, these events can vary from what really happened to us who were growing up in the 1950s, 1960s, and the early 1970s. This autobiography covers the life, and times of one person of the "Baby Boomer" generation; what it was like growing up in a part of the northeastern United States. If you too are a member of this generation, how does it compare to your own growing up? You just may be surprised how much of it was the same, and how much was different.
