As a school librarian I find all of Joni Richards Bodart "booktalks" helpful. Booktalk 3 is very good, as is 2, 4, and 5. I use them in two ways. First, I search through them to find titles that are already on our shcool library shelf. This way I can re-familiarize myself with a speciic book to help me "sell" it to the students or, if I haven't read it, I use her booktalks to decided if I should read it and give a booktalk on it. Secondly, I use Jodi's books as a selection aid. I read her booktalks and choose the ones that I feel would fit into a "theme" or just get the kids reading. She has booktalks for all types of books and for all age groups. She also devotes the first chapter or two of each book on how to prepare and present booktalks to different classes and how to overcome trouble spots such as class disruptions or "selling" books to reluctant readers.
