Charlie Hall has never found a lock she couldn't pick, a book she couldn't steal, or a bad decision she wouldn't make. She's spent half her life working for gloamists, magicians who manipulate shadows... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I really enjoyed this book, although it seems I'm in the minority as most reviews I've seen are negative. I like the FMC as she was a little unlikeable, but not in an annoying way, she was headstrong, not a damsel in distress. The book is kind of choppy, and there were times I thought I had missed a few pages because of it. The shadows is such a cool idea, I loved having something new to read about in fantasy. There is a second book Thief of Night and I recommend reading it as well.

Meh?

I really wanted to like this book, but I felt like the story was all build up and no deliverance. The so called "twists" that this book have were pretty evident to me from the beginning and it just felt like any old book about a thief. I did not find Charlie Hall very compelling as a main character, nor were the lovemaking scenes as steamy as the reviews made them out to be. It took me forever to find the drive to finish this book and it is just not my cup of tea.
