"The worst thing about new books is that they keep us from reading old ones."

My title is taken from this little GEM.It was said by Joseph Joubert (1754-1824) and is applicable today as it was then. The little book I have was published in the USA in 1992.and carries ISBN 1-85015-268-3.I see where the cover is different than the one shown here and there are also others by the same title and author but with a different ISBN shown in Bookfinder.I suspect it is the same but recently reissued. It is a great little book with quotations from people of all types who love books. It is a small 'Gift Book' that would make a wonderful gift to a friend who loves books. It has a hard cover, is printed on very good paper and numerous illustrated pictures from the world of books. The quotations come from an array of people, including,Oliver Goldsmith,John Ruskin,Winston Churchill,FDR,Oscar Wilde,C.S.Lewis,Sherlock Holmes,Erica Jong,Helen Keller,Thomas Carlyle,Jane Austin,John Kieran,Mao Tse-Tung,Khrushchev,Walt Disney;just to show the diversity involved. The editor has chosen a wide selection for this book and it is not surprising that it is still available. The only surprise to me is that mine is the first review.Maybe people are inclined to think such a little tome hardly warrants a review;obviously I feel otherwise. "Just the knowledge that a good book is waiting one at the end of a long day makes that day happier." Kathleen Norris (1880-1966)
