Surviving a summer of hell defeating brutal alien invaders, Trett and Anneth Walker return to rebuilding their lives, careers, and family-settling happily into a pleasant life in the northern lake country. But once again, they find themselves thrown into the breech of doom as the Aliens of the Green World return with vengeance and a vicious new plan.

Because of earlier contact with the Aliens, the Walkers and Sheriff Anderson remain unaffected by the toxin and desperately try to warn everyone of the alien horror creeping through the hedgerows. No one heeds the dire warning, and the three defenders of Earth are ridiculed to the lunatic fringe.

The sting of humiliation is brief as the world of humans comes to rapid demise.

Trett Walker stands as the last sentient man on a planet forever dead to mankind, and suffers endless attacks by the violent Rads as he seeks to discover what has befallen his beloved wife Anneth, who failed to return from volunteer work in Colombia at the fateful moment the Aliens released their toxic weapon. But the Aliens have more firepower in their arsenal.

Using their vast knowledge of organic chemistry, they biologically reform the violent Rads into recombinant-DNA fusion creatures-Fusioncreats-to assist in converting the Blue Planet Earth into the Green Alien World.

The powerful Fusioncreats challenge the lonely Walker to the limits of human endurance as he journeys through post-apocalypse carnage. Despite being outnumbered and overwhelmed, Trett Walker suddenly finds himself in the middle of an interstellar civil war, and receives help from an unexpected quarter in his battle to keep the inhabitants of the Blue Planet Earth from going quiet into that eternal good night.

Bone Shade is the second story in the Walker Saga, which kicks off with the Science Fiction/Fantasy thriller The Field of Doom: The Walker Saga Book One.
