Body, Crime, Suspect: Investigating Crime Scenes relates a fictional crime investigation using the real procedures and techniques used by first police on scene the crime, those responsible for collecting evidence, coroners, forensic toxicologists, those questioning suspects, etc. It also shows how all of this evidence is then used in court trial procedures. Basically, crime investigation 101 from crime to conviction. All of the information in this book is presented in a story form of an uncle telling his nephew about the murder case of a famous writer in which the uncle had served as an investigating officer. I really liked this approach because the uncle often illustrated that murder cases are solved by a team of individuals all doing their specific job not just one hero as is often depicted on television. I also liked that this book explained that these procedures took a good deal of time and effort, unlike on an hour long episode of CSI.
