HILARIOUS

Bobbie Fae is a force of nature, while being witty, brave, and competent. I found her extremely likable, and loved the fact that Bobbie Fae is not as dependent on male characters to fix her problems for her. She's a crack shot with a gun, tough, smart, creative, and has a personality bigger than her home state of Louisiana! She makes the mayor cry and hide under his desk since her adventures tend to be expensive, but it's not her fault everything keeps blowing up! It is easy to understand why her hometown adores her, and as a reader you will too! Whenever Bobbie Fae is around there is nonstop action and laughs. Fans of the first Bobbie Fae book will not be dissappointed with this follow up! If you have not read Bobbie Fae's Very Very Very Bad Day I recommend reading that first, but make sure you have this one close at hand for when you finish reading! I laughed out loud many times while reading all of the Bobbie Fay books, and can't wait to read the 3rd which is out in summer 2009. As of summer 2009 they are also reprinting all the Bobbie Fae books in a smaller and less expensive paperback version (this review is for the more expensive "larger" paper back version). The Bobbie Fae books are perfect for fans of funny mysteries or action/adventure. These books are perfect for the beach or whenever you want to get away and have a hearty laugh. I think these books would also make a great gift for the woman reader in your life, but do want to note that my 3 of my male friends have loved this book as well! If you like Janet Evanovich, you will love Tony McGee Causey's books. While I love both writers, and I think the Bobbie Fae series is actually funnier than the Plumb books. I read about 8 books a week and am very familiar with most mystery writers; I can say that Causey is in my top 5 favorites.

I Had Fun!

Review Toni McGee Causey - "Bobbie Faye's (kinda, sorta, not-exactly) Family Jewels" now Named "Grirs Just Wanna Have Guns" Fans of such slapstick series as Janet Evanovich's "Plum" series and Sarah Strohmeyer's "Bubbles" series will most likely adore this new series too. And if you think you have had a bad day, well I beg to differ! Bobbie Faye is having one seriously BAD day, it will make your bad day look like a picnic! Bobbie Faye is coerced by her cousin Francesca to help her find some diamonds that have gone missing. Francesca is under the wrong idea that Bobbie knows where to find them...but then again many different groups of nefarious people seem to think that Bobbie Faye knows where these diamonds are. And poor Bobbie Faye is stuck on the idea that she has to help her family no matter what the cost to her own life may be. Kidnappings abound as well as shootings, sniping fires and even one bulldozer through a house scene. Now mix into this mess the fact that Trevor is back (you may remember him from the first book in this series)he's the "drop- dead -sexy FBI agent and is as serious about Bobbie as a heart attack, then ex-boyfriend Cam finally decides to clarify how HE feels about Bobbie and we can add testosterone poisoning into the fray. A funny, fun, light, fluffy romp, that can be treated as a "potato chip read" ( a read that is not going to enlighten you in any important way, but makes you feel damn good and makes you giggle). I highly recommend this to fans of slapstick humor. Granted it does go a little over the top sometimes and I had a problem keeping all the various groups and characters straight, but that is most likely my problem and not the fact that there may have been a tad too many people in this book for the author to deal with! Have fun reading!

Fun and Exciting

I don't often give reviews on the books I've read very much unless if I feel my review warrants attention! I'm a very picky on the books that I read and I'm an avid reader and extremely cautious on what books that seems interesting to me and it takes a lot of thought to pick out a book because I don't want to waste the money! Toni Mcgee Causey wrote a downright wonderful, hilarious, and sexy story of heroine Bobbie Faye. I was glued to this story, could not put this book down, laughed out loud until my ribs hurt..so enjoy this book..you will not waste your money (I hope!) :)

Quick Bobbie Faye...Run Away from Cliché

If you enjoyed Causey's "Bobbie Faye's Very (very, very, very) Bad Day", you will like "Bobbie Faye's (kinda, sorta, not exactly) Family Jewels". If you LOVED (as I did) the first book you will like the new installment as well, yet you may find yourself wishing it had the verve of the original. Causey's first book grabs you by the b...ull horns and literally drags you (willingly) from one hysterical, climatic event to another. "...Family Jewels" is a good read yet I couldn't keep the niggling in my mind from pointing out that this was turning into something I've read before. My peeve? Well, it's the "torn between two lovers" thing. I read a lot and one of my favorite genre's is mystery stories with women protagonists. Virtually every one falls into the "oh, which man do I love?...the straight and narrow cop (usually furious)or the rebellious kinda...sorta...good-bad guy". It's the path I see Cuasey taking in this new book and, for my money, it takes up too much reading time when Bobbie could be blowing something up. I guess I long for a woman who can make up her mind about who she wants and then gets on with business. I know that a writer needs to create some sort of conflict in order to keep things interesting but, isn't there something new? Okay, I'm over it and do recommend this book as an entertaining, fast read. Causey excells at sarcasm, humor, character devlopment and painting scenes of intense drama and suspense (blowing things up). (If you didn't read Causey's first book...GET IT...it is terrific.)

Bobbie Faye Returns

This follows up Bobbie Faye's Very, 'very, very, very' Bad Day. It starts up a couple months after the first disaster and many of the same characters appear. Bobby Faye is working at Ce Ce's store one day when her cousin Francesca shows up asking Bobbie Faye to help her find stolen diamonds her mother, Marie, hid somewhere. Francesca's father, Emile, head of a mob organization and the person Marie stole the diamonds from, thinks Bobbie Faye knows where they are at. Within the first several chapters of the book, Bobbie Faye is shot at, kidnapped on the same block by three separate groups of people, and her car blows up on a bridge, taking part of the bridge with it. So you could say the sequel starts off with a bang. Throughout the book, we get to meet more of Bobbie Faye's crazy family, including her father, she blows up other things, comes near death several times, all while trying to figure out her feelings for Trevor 'well those feelings are pretty obvious' and Cam 'not so obvious'. Bobbie Faye is also accused of murder not once, but twice through the course of the book. Trevor and Cam know she is innocent and try to figure out a way to keep every cop in the state from killing her on sight. Causey's second attempt with Bobbie Faye does not disappoint. However, I don't think it quite lives up to the first one. A little less time is spent on the action and running around 'just a little, there's still a lot of action' and more time is spent developing the relationship she has with Trevor and Cam. There are also a ton of characters in this book, sometimes a little difficult to keep track of. And I didn't laugh out loud quite as much as the first one. With all that being said, I was still highly entertained and liked the ending. I won't give too much away, but we find out a little more about best friend Nina at the end of book. Hmm.....perhaps we're setting up for a third installment?
