Introduction An ekphrastic poetry book to celebrate the beauty of black and brown women and girls of all ages. The poetry in this book is one poem broken down into separate stanzas and paired with vibrant visual art. The poem Blue Black and Brown Beautiful was first published in, Every Kinda Lady Monologues in Poetry book in 2017. Nzima Hutchings, the poetess understands the power of positive words and unapologetic cultural imagery. She said, "one of my fondest memories as a child was playing in an open fire hydrant on a hot day in the hood; we didn't think we were breaking any law." "We didn't realize we were poor," and we were just innocent and beautiful." Traditionally with ekphrastic poetry, visual art is done first and the poet uses the art as the muse. However, this project was done in reverse under the direction, intellectual visions, and detailed direction of the poet. Thus, the poem was the muse. The visual artist, Anne Gogh captured the literary art, the authentic timeless memories, and the imagination of the author five years later. This is an interactive book that includes and inspires readers to also write, embrace and connect to their beauty, the world around them, and the culture without shame, with pride and respect. The book has one painting with nudity. This book is meant to be read by all ages; for the young to be viewed with the permission of an adult.
