Blossom: A Fairyland Fable

When the dragon escapes from his prison in the Pleated Hills, all the creatures in Fairyland shiver in fear that the beast will hunt them down for dinner. The tooth fairy has to limit her deliveries, the fairy godmothers have to postpone bestowing gifts on new babies, and the young fairies can't play after school or dance in fairy circles. The elves put on their beanies and sashes and go fearfully out on patrol, hoping the dragon doesn't notice them. It's Elvie, who has to race on his elfmobile to escape those claws and that fiery breath. After the dragon devours one of the evil catagnomes, the one who forgot to feed him, the King of the Fairies invites everyone in Fairyland, except the children, to a memorial service. The young fairies are told to stay home and be good. Since fairies live forever-unless a dragon eats one of them or they run away-Blossom wonders if a memorial service is sort of like a party. She and her dog, Buddy, go to find out. Buddy, who loves to chew artichoke leaves, is sure it's a party when he sees a huge artichoke. Blossom wishes she had stayed at home when she sees the dragon who, of course, wasn't invited but has come anyway. It takes a lot of cooperation to solve the mess.
