After finding out the new release from their favorite video game series has been pushed back, spontaneous 17-year-old Audrey McNamara and her practical twin sister Lauren decide to pull their money together and fly to Japan, the only place in the world that has the game. However on their way to the airport, they are kidnapped by Professor Buchanan, their mad scientist neighbor, and incidentally transformed into large, reptilian monsters, allowing them to escape his control and eventually continue their journey. Yet while they venture across the globe encountering angry mobs, beautiful landscapes, nautical villains, and even a kind college student named Evan who steals Audrey's heart, the twins begin to wonder more about who they are, what their relationship means, and if they'll ever be changed back to normal.
