Into the unfolding night once more, to attempt to understand what it is to be a night creature. It is virtually impossible to comprehend unless you ARE one. Bloodlust is yet another documentary book exploring the dark culture of the Vampire. Carol Page travels throughout America & to Europe, for personal interviews with practitoners, fans, & Vampirologists. We witness a conversation from the ever-elusive Sean Manchester, founder of The Vampire Research Society, self-proclaimed "vampire hunter", & author of the book, "The Highgate Vampire", which chronologues his corpse-stalking antics from the early 70's up to current times. Around the same time period, 'David Farrant' was sentenced to five years incarceration for the desecration of graves therein. Subsequently, he is no longer allowed to tread the grounds of the beautiful & magnificent Highgate Cemetery. While in England, we travel over to the North Yorkshire coast to attend a "hunt-a-vampire" weekend sponsored by The Dracula Society of London. It proves to be quite a fangtastic time... We meet Gabriel, who shot his grandmother with four gold-painted bullets, because he thought regulat bullets would not do the job, & because he thought she was an evil vampire trying to poison him; the continuing conspitorial delusions unfold in this compelling interview from prison, where the dementia unravels..... We are behind the scenes in Transylvania for the making of an epic vampire special, starring "Love At First Bite"'s George Hamilton..... We meet with "Countess Misty", matriarch of a gang of 'vampires' called "The Lost Shadows Gang". Name says it all. And onto the dynamic performances of THE DARK THEATRE, featuring Vlad, singer of the band, who knows how to put on a hell of a show. But the psychodrama does not end when the performance is over, it has just begun..... Bloodlust is quite an entertaining & compelling book, but alas, no mention whatsoever of what a Psychic Vampire is. So it is not as thurough as it could have been. Overall, Bloodlust is Carol Page's rather mild investigation into the noctum world of the nosferatu. If you are into collecting these sort of books, it should be quite pleasing. If you are researching Vampirism seriously, then it will prove rather shallow. I recommend "American Vampires" by Norine Dresser & "The Vampire Bible", which is obtainable at the Temple of the Vampire. [ vampiretemple.com ]
