Evaline soon finds out family is indeed everything, and the key to overcoming even the most dangerous obstacle lies within her own bloodline.

The MacCowan backstory comes to light, in parallel with Evaline's backstory in the primeval Scottish Highlands, but landing us in eighteenth century Lancaster Pennsylvania. Their plight weaves throughout the story. As Evaline tries to reconcile the anguish Mason had gone through in the beginning, she comes to understand some of their reasoning on why they see things a certain way. All their questions about those fateful days also come to light as their existence is threatened. The ancient decree issued in 1774, allowing the MacGregors to reestablish as one unified clan, finally comes to an end as all are brought before the elders to answer for their parents.

BLOODLINES continues to look at the concepts of family honor, desire, and soul in a way that draws you in and keeps you yearning for more. As a heroine, Evaline represents the mold of resilience and fearlessness. She continues do whatever it takes to keep those close to her safe, no matter the cost.
