Book Overview

Mary Seward thought she had escaped the darkness of Transylvania. But now, back in England, she has terrible nightmares, fears the night, and sees vampires everywhere she turns. When a strange virus weakens her father, Mary suspects that there's a far more sinister explanation for the disease than doctors can provide.

Then Mary's worst nightmare comes true: Quincey Harker, heir to Count Dracula's bloodline, appears in England. He declares his eternal...

book review2

This book is the second and final in a 2 part series. The writing and storyline are simply EXCELLENT. A vampire-lover's dream come true. The story has it ALL!

Another good one from Kate Cary

I thought it was a great ending to the first Bloodline. I love the twist that she ended the first book with, and the sequel ended it well giving us the exact story and timeline of the events that surrounded the first. I hope that Cary comes out with more alike books! And I really hope she does a follow up book to this one because I would love to find out more on Mary and Quincey Harker.

Even though it's been two years since Mary fled Castle Dracula for her life, she is still haunted by the images she saw and the monster that was once her fiancé. She hides away, using her father's frail condition as a reason to stay at home and refrain from socializing. Her father suspects her fear and encourages Mary to move on and not dwell on the evil that exists in the world. At a party held by the adoptive parents of the baby she saved at Castle Dracula, she meets Lord Bathory, a man with a quite demeanor. Mary finds herself immensely enjoying his company and frequents dinners with him. But she never forgets the evil that may be lurking. When her father's condition worsens and he becomes pale and listless, she suspects a vampire is to blame. The appearance of Quincy Harker only confirms her fears. Quincy confesses to Mary that he is trying to change his evil ways. But is he telling the truth -- or is he toying with her like a cat would a mouse? RECKONING was a great sequel to BLOODLINE, although I have to admit that I liked BLOODLINE better! Mary was one of my favorite characters from the first book, so I was happy to see that the second story consisted mostly of her story. I also liked the look into Quincy's history; he is obviously a very complex character and I enjoyed the small insight! The plot was steady. There was constant questioning for me; I could never figure out who Mary should or shouldn't trust. I never saw the twist at the end of the story, either! My only complaint was that I would have liked to have seen how John was handling his new vampiric ways..... perhaps in the next one! If you are a vampire fan, I would recommend RECKONING! A good sequel

Just like the first book, this is a page turner. It's hard to put down. Again Quincy Harker is the main character of this book (or so I thought). He's the character that you love despite what he is. I enjoyed the subtle hints throughout the book as to who the latest "killer" is. It's written again in journel format, which gives excellent views into each character. If you are in need of a excellent book that will consume you until you have finished it, this is the book/series for you.

Great!

Dear God...please tell me more people have read this book than it appears! First of all, at Barnes and Noble I had to ORDER it because it wasn't in stock! Then I see only one person has reviewed it! These books are great; the feel is so Bram Stoker and yet the stories are different enough that it's not just a copycat...I hope this book gets all the recognition it deserves because I thoroughly enjoyed it and am anticipating the third!
