Glad to see others remembering this unforgettable book.

I was watching the interesting new show, "Mad Men" on AMC in which the main character has a secretive past from which he has forged a new identity. He suddenly is confronted by a long lost brother whom he denies but later admits really IS his brother..."but please, go away and never, ever come back". Reading at the IMDB forum on the show, many viewers were shocked and saying, "How can he do that to his OWN brother? What a jerk!" and I flashed back to this book. Though it has been close to 30 years since I read it and can remember virtually nothing, I DO remember that a truly shocking truth came out and you understood WHY the lead character was such a putz to his family. I hope "Mad Men" dares a similar shock and hope this book finds its way back into print. I'd love to read it again!

Page turner!!!

I had found this book in a secondhandshop and wow!!!! This book is amazing! I can't believe that this GREAT book is out of print! This is good! It is like a big puzzle and every time you think you know you are wrong all together!!! The secret is deeper and darker then you have ever thought possible!!

holy ****!!!!!

I can't believe this book isn't in print anymore... I've never seen more twists in ANY other book that i've ever read, and i've read many. A brief description reads "it starts as a love story and escalates into a nightmare for those involved"... and how. Best damn book that i've read in the last year, it's in my top 3 at least and i'd compare it to any other great horror book for the emotional shock value at the end. I'll never forget this book. Very suspenseful and devastating, and i'd recommend it to anyone.
