Between 2011 and 2014, I wrote eight short stories. I had been writing stories since I was six. Odd ideas would enter my head and I would feel compelled to write about them. On the surface, these stories appear to be about diverse characters: an orphan, an ex-convict and a bully. But beneath, all are about alienation. My children's mysteries of the Seventies are the same: alienation. I hadn't noticed. Why do I keep writing about alienation? At the age of fifty-one, I would discover something terrible about myself. This terrible truth has leaked into my stories and would explain why this theme runs throughout my stories. With illustrations and diary excerpts.
