After spending each day helping the people of Quibbletown, NJ to see better, Blombach, the town optometrist, spends his nights in ancient Babylon attempting to save his childhood idol, Alexander the Great, from dying at age 32, as all history books say he did. Things get weirder still when he ends up sleeping with Alexander's soon to be widow, the beautiful Roxana, with whom Blombach may or may not have a child (we never find out). This is blatant tampering with history, a dicey proposition. How dicey Blombach soon finds out when the flimsy membrane that separates his two realities across 2,300 years begins to fray and let through characters and events filter through the gaps converge to blow timeline and common sense all to hell. Like Don Quixote, Blombach's imagination is fired up by books. But unlike the Man of La Mancha the Man of Quibbletown, NJ is not out to find adventure but out to bestow love. No one, not even his wife, would suspect that Blombach is --..".the greatest lover who ever lived, greater than Casanova, greater than Don Juan, greater even than Jesus, because unlike Jesus Blombach would have hugged and kissed the money changers in the temple." If you love history and asking "What if..." You're bound to love Blombach.
