The Manissean Indians desperately hold onto their Island home while Puritan leaders drive dissenters out of Massachusetts. The Mystic, Anne Hutchinson along with her followers including Military Captain John Underhill have been banished from the Colony. They move to establish communities where people can be free to live out their own Christian spiritual convictions. Underhill continues to hunt down the renegade, Audsah who brought so much trouble upon the Indian nations of New England. After the death of her husband, the growing tide of persecution eventually drives Anne Hutchinson to move her family to Dutch, New York. James Sands is hired to go in advance to build her a house in Westchester at a location known as Split Rock. He is threatened by the local Natives and returns to warn Anne Hutchinson. Anne is undeterred and moves but it proves to be disastrous. Young James Sands is left wondering where a person can go to experience true freedom. Could it be the distant Island that beckons him?
