He explains about schooling, or lack of it, and the sorrow of sitting next to a friend crying all day because his father was killed that very morning. When the Blitz came to an end then the new horror of Germany's new weapons the VI and VII and how his mother was involved in one of the explosions of these indiscrimate weapons raining down on a civilain population.
