Blister is a must read book!!!!!

My book Review Everyone should read the wonderful book Blister By: Susan Shreve. This is a touching story about a young girl named Alyssa. She goes through many changes, and gets so sick of everything, including her name. It's easy to relate to Alyssa (Aka Blister) and all of her changes. This book will make you laugh, and you will understand what she's going through. It's great! The Characters are believable and funny. The Main character Alyssa gets sick of just about everything. So she decides to change the things she can in it, starting with her name. She decides Blister is her new name. She has many feeling for other characters in this book. For example she feels revenge on her father because he cheated on her mother. Also she feels happy when she's around her new friends, even though the get her into trouble! When you read this book you can almost feel like you're living her life. I was hooked on her funny, yet caring ways the minute I picked up the book! The theme of the story was basically a feel of revenge yet sorrow. Although the theme varies you could always tell those two main themes. I thought the theme was revenge because the fact that her father cheated Blister wanted revenge. To get revenge she went through her fathers belongings and stole things like jewelry. But yet there was a feeling of sorrow for her father because of his long nights working at the bowling ally. I thought that revenge was the easier theme to pick out because by the second chapter you could already see that she liked getting revenge. She only took revenge on people who "deserved it" according to her. I think theme played a major role in this book and it wouldn't have been as interesting with out it. The setting made it seem more interesting to know where everything was going on. The being of the book starts out at her former home (Which you will learn about if you read the book) but varies thought the book. She goes to a new school, and finds a lot of friends...so she thinks. She also begins to try things she wouldn't normally do. For example she decides to try out for cheerleading, because supposedly that's what all the "Cool people" did. She wasn't acting like herself as if she were at her old school. She talked to her mother about the cheerleading; her mother thinks it's a good idea. But her father officially decides it's not for her. The setting showed her emotions for being in certain spots, like her fathers apartment. She wasn't comfortable there because it just didn't feel like home. The setting also played a just as important role as the theme! I really wanted to keep reading after I knew how the setting varied, there were interesting and fun to read! Overall this was a wonderful book. I would recommend it to anyone who loves a great story. But I would strongly recommend this book to a kid with divorced parents. They would understand her pain and feeling for revenge. Basically I think this is a good book for a

I love this book

I would give this book a 5 star because this is a very sad and emotional book for girls. Every year lots of girls have experienced death and divorces between their parents. This book can make a lot of girls feel better!

Great times Great girl

Blister is a book about a girl named Alicia Reed. It all starts when Allis's mom (Marry Reed) has a miscarriage with Allis's little sister. Marry soon becomes sick with sadness, then to top it off Allis's dad walks out and goes with this 15 year old girl named Tamara. Daisy G. (Allis's G-ma) says that Tamara should of been named Totsie. When that happens she wanted to be renamed Blister. Me and Blister relate a lot. Were both so stubborn. But she is only 9 and I'm 12. I loved this story So much. There was one part where I cried. This book is so heart warming. My personal favorite place in the book was when she tried out for cheerleading. Any girl would love this book.

Blister - The Best!

Alyssa Reed is having a tough life. After her mother delivers a born-dead baby, Alyssa's family (Jack, her dad, Mary, her mom, and Alyssa herself) moves into the city from her farm home. In the new school, Bixley, she "changes" her name to Blister and changes her whole entire personality and her identity. Soon she's trying out for the cheerleading squad and facing a whole new life.

One Tough Blister to Pop!!!

Critical Review Blister By Susan Shreve This is a story about a young girl who is named Alyssa Reed. She lives with her mother, father, and grandmother. They live in a small house in the country. Then when a horrible tragedy happens, her world is turned upside down. Her mom can't stop crying, and her dad moves to an apartment thinking it will make things better. The only one she can count on is her grandmother, but she also moves out! So she names herself Blister and fights back with a new attitude. It is a wonderful story that will keep you cheering her on even when she is doing something wrong. Susan Shreve writes wonderfully and expresses emotions well. I would recommend this book to anyone age 9 to 99. It's funny and fun. If you like adventures, you will love this book, because it is full of them!Sara Kaufmann
