In 2029, NASA's plan to avoid a direct collision between Earth and an asteroid named Apophis, results in the rock scraping along the atmosphere, causing catastrophic destruction. In the ensuing years, the rise of one man, Warren Kirkland, results in the restoration of first the United States then the world. He becomes the American president and aspires to be a divine world ruler. Kirkland's four children, now grown adults, help him to administer his authority through newly created divisions of government to gain world control. When his son, Jayson, dies in an unusual accident, a series of motions set forth the drama that will ultimately be Kirkland's undoing and his remaining children learn the truth about his diabolical plan for humanity.
