From the back cover: Slocum would go through hell to get his revenge. And if it meant being the deputy sheriff of the town of Damnation, down in Brimstone County, he'd do it. Things were actually pretty good. He had a fine horse, good weapons, decent pay--even a free room at the sheriff's. And right next door was Abby, the sheriff's demanding, well-endowed wife. But then the rustler's and bushwackers started knowing just what Slocum was going to do before he did it, and things started to get real hot. Slocum had to find out what the hell was going on in Damnation! Enjoyed this one and wasn't able to put it down. It was a quick read despite its 219 pages. Slocum is at his best as he ambles his independent hide back into gear after being cold-cocked and robbed. He works his way back on a woman's spread out in the middle of no where. After three-weeks of doing chores and such, she pays him with a horse and a gun, and of course since this is an adult western, a little lovin. From there he heads out to find the ones who robbed him. Seems like others are after him too. Irnonically, outlaw Slocum becomes a deputy sheriff to assist the townsfolk into doing what he had already planned to do. A good Slocum. Much recommended. ***
