According to a blurb on the back cover, the author worked as an investigative reporter and I'm afraid that shows. While the words flow smoothly on the page, they lack nuance. To me Axel Blaze, the main character is flat, without texture or color. Whatever personality, emotion, or history the author imagined Blaze to have never quite made it onto the printed page. While there is plenty of action and the potential of a good story, Blaze certainly is no Jack Reacher. I have learned that the three lines on the back page "Made in United States, Orlando FL, 19 January 2022" means it was self-published and printed by Amazon. I think it's great that people can see their writing in print, but at least in this case, it was a disappointment to try to read. Sorry to say I got bored and didn't finish.
