In this presentation of the post-war Spanish poet Blas de Otero, Moraima de Sempr n Donahue sets out the poet's poetic persona by mining his literary production for biographical hints. Given the paucity of extant biographical data, this ex post facto construction of a singular identity offers new insight to the corpus of his work. Seeking similar universals, the volume lays out an organizational scheme for the use of theme and symbol based in the totality of Otero's oeuvre, rather than in its diachronic progression. This systematization allows the unveiling of the poet's multifaceted exploration of man's central place in the universe.
