A search for the Keeper of Peace becomes a frantic race to control the fate of the Realm. Four kingdoms collide in this faith-filled fantasy novel for middle-grade readers.

One hundred years have passed since the Keeper of Peace vanished. In hopes of restoring the missing governor to his rightful place atop the Keeper's Plateau, the king of Summer forms a secret search party led by his son, Prince Mel.

As the group encounters many dangers, Eva, the princess of Winter, shares a secret with Mel about a mysterious, masked prisoner known as "inmate thirty-six." Could this be the man the king sent them to find? And if so, how can the prince's party rescue this curious convict and escape under the evil eye of Eva's father, the king of Winter?

Blades of Eternity and the Keeper of Peace is the first book in the Blades of Eternity series. Readers will encounter page-turning adventure as they explore the values of friendship, loyalty, and courage.

Excellent Middle Grade Fantasy Adventure!

I don't know what's been happening in Christian Middle Grade fiction lately, but I am here for it! There are so many incredible fantasy books coming from Christian publishers and authors lately both in the traditional space and the indie space, and Zach Fox's Blades of Eternity and the Keeper of Peace, book one in the Blades of Eternity series is a prime example of the quality books being written in the space! Part Brian Jacques' Redwall, part Peggy Downing's The Exitorn Adventures, part M.L. Forman's Adventurers Wanted, and I'm sure some people will quickly compare this to C.S. Lewis' The Chronicles of Narnia, this is the kind of fantasy adventure that I absolutely love. Prince Melik is a prince of the kingdom of Summer, and he has been sent on a mysterious quest to find someone who hasn't been seen in over a 100 years. But without this missing person, the whole realm comprised of the kingdoms of Summer, Fall, Winter, and Spring, will fall into war. Prince Melik joins up with a ragtag group of friends on a dangerous quest that will take them through the four kingdoms. But others are also on the quest, and if they find the missing person first, all will be lost. Book one in this series is packed with action, suspense, and a lot of heart honestly. At the core it's a fetch quest, and I haven't seen one of these in the fantasy space in a minute. There are plenty of twists and turns plotwise, which for me, if there isn't a good plot twist I'm always a little disappointed. Thankfully Fox does not disappoint on the twists and turns and revelations along the way. The worldbuilding is intriguing and I am curious for the characters to explore more of the kingdoms in upcoming entries because the places we do visit are fascinating and had me wanting to know much much more. Fox also weaves in some tidbits for the future with unanswered overarching plot questions that will likely show up in later books. Also, the subtle easter eggs referencing The Legend of Zelda were perfect for fantasy fans! Mel is a great main character to follow along with, and to be honest, he feels real in a way other characters in fantasy novels have not. Mel is not a reluctant hero; instead he is brash and often gets himself into trouble because of being so headstrong. It was refreshing to have a different kind of lead represented in fantasy space, and I was here for it! Overall, this is an excellent first entry in this middle grade fantasy series. I cannot recommend this one enough. I am there day one for book 2's release!
