Anne B. Jones' book, Blackwater Rising, is worth the read. Her portrayal of the serial killer is uncomfortably real and throughout the book, the author shows she has a keen understanding of human nature. This well written psychological thriller takes place on the Georgia coast and the sense of place in the novel is unerring. Thumbs up on a great read.
More than a Mystery

Black Water Rising has all the components of a good mystery with some surprising twists and layers not always found in a good mystery. You know who the perpetrator is after just a few pages. So what's to keep you reading??? Everything! You find yourself closer to a serial killer than anyone wants to be--but you cannot pull away. You must journey with him until his fatal mistake--until his end. After all, you might want to sleep again. A great book for the beach or by a cozy, warm fireplace in the winter. It is a great read for both men and women. But a mystery? Oh no, so much more--a psychological thriller and a book that leaves you questioning, thinking... Not an element found in all mysteries, but an element found in all great books. I hope this book gets the wide audience it deserves and that this author keeps on writing
Fear Rising

If Jaws scared you, then Blackwater Rising should be on your "must-read" list. While the Georgia coast may be known for its gentility, Jones looks through that thin facade and finds a disturbing underworld hiding a demented serial killer. Her characters defy the one-dimensional stereotypes and create an interweaving tale of conflicting emotions. The body count mounts faster than the clues until Jones finally reaches a compelling conclusion that leaves us wanting more. Let's hope her sleuths are brought back to life in a future adventure.

Anne B. Jones has written a really exciting serial killer thriller. I was on the edge of my seat reading it and sudden noises made me jump! I was totally engrossed in the plot. The characters were intriguing and believeable. Black Water Rising is one of the best serial killer thrillers I have ever read...and I have read a few! Patsy Clark
Blackwater Plunges Reader Deep into Mystery
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 17 years ago
Anne B. Jones has written a thrilling serial murder mystery that keeps the reader on edge throughout. With a cast of believable characters and an expert grasp of her St. Simons Island, GA setting, Jones keeps the action moving, carrying readers on a rollercoaster ride of cops trying to figure out why young female bodies keep washing up in the surf. Her main character, Dr. Catherine Lindsay, is a savvy, sympathetic woman with a surprising past, and her task--to restore the sense of safety for an entire community--is difficult, although aided by her careful study of aberrant behavior psychology. I immersed myself in the book and didn't come out until I had the mystery solved; I'm rarely so captivated. Anne Jones weaves the story elements together skillfully, and we can only hope she'll write many more like Blackwater Rising.
