Never on a Sunday

The standard tale of a witch, Barbara Steele as Asa Vajda, being smoked and cursing the smoker. Long before the Terminator, in this Italian-based vampire/witch movie, she threatened to come back. Douglas MacArthur and the Terminator also did this. It looks like not much money went into props and blood for this black-and-white movie. Some of the ideas were borrowed from Bram Stoker. Barbara Steele, who plays the witch’s descendant Katia, is also known as a big star in other movies currently and has played many creepy parts. Yet parts of her were excellent. This movie, “Black Sunday” also produced as “The Mask of Satan” (1989) TV Movie UNCUT, is loosely based on a short story by Nikolai Gogol.
