Loved this book!

This book is one of my favorites. Ron Christie's persective of the White House workings kept my attention from cover to cover. I have to tell you...his thoughts on some things made me laugh out loud and others made me cry. Thank you for the book Mr. Christie--and you are definitely not a "wart on history's nose". :-)

Great read!

I must say this is one of the few books I've read that had me riveted by page THREE! Buy it ... :->

Looking over his shoulders

I expected to read about Mr. Christie's White House experience and was not disappointed. This is an account of his interactions with those he worked with and reported to, from George Bush to others in the West Wing. The purpose was not to give juicy tidbits, but anecdotes about his relationship with those we can only read about. How does a young African American man end up in his unique position in such a relatively short time in his career? I thoroughly enjoyed his writing style, the sense of amazement and appreciation as a witness to what happens behind those closed doors of power. Whatever my political orientation may be, I applaud his candid observations as one of the very few African Americans to function at such a high level in the Executive Branch. Perhaps a youngster with political aspirations (whatever his or her ethnicity) will read this book and be inspired to follow the dream. Read the book for a glimpse at Mr. Christie's experience and get the sensationalism from media! I am confused as to why you print a "book review" (Merlin) from one who admits to never having read the book and formulating impressions from a CSPAN broadcast. I feel this section should be reserved for those who actually READ the book.

BRAVE MAN-SHOULD BE PROUD

Received this as a gift and anyone who would say anything bad about this book is a lier, it coudl only be a liberal, it takes courage and guts to be a Black Republican or conservative nowadays, they are called UNCLE TOM's and other names, Thank God for people Like Ron Christi, just because your black does not mean you have to be a Democrat, the book was great and maybe if more Blacks read it and understand that is not so bad to be a Republican but they choose to stay in a hateful party, this will not be publish probably but I had to be honest, BUY THE BOOK IT IS WELL WORTH IT!!!!

If you blindly follow the crowd, you cannot see!

If I thought for one minute you read the book, then you might have a shred of credibility. Like many liberals, all you can do is bash people with different beliefs with no attempt at understanding them, or having any real ideas of your own on how to make our country better, stronger, safer. So, instead of being so critical of others why not try looking in the mirror. It is amazing that conservatives are the only ones perceived as being intolerant and narrow-minded. The is no reason for so much hate. By the way, the book is a very good read and gives a interesting look behind closed doors at the White House.
