My Final Poem

As I walk away from one of my careers
I offered you all my heart, I was honest about my fears
Viewing the world and painting pictures with my pen
Thoughts of the future and thoughts of way back when
A scenic landscape, a long leisurely country mile
I was serious, but I still remembered to smile
I shared my life with you, I meant everything I said
I now write song lyrics so I'll be doing that instead
Thousands of hours creating and all the time it took
My final poem placed neatly in my last poetry book
