I was a rascal of a girl growing up in a Cotton Mill Village near Mobile, Alabama. My defects are numerous. Beginning with my Southern drawl, which matched my lack of extended education. Proper speech or proper fashion was unheard of in my young life. A Ragamuffin child would better describe me. Allowing time and moving to new environments; plus traveling and a strong desire for improvements, proved to produce many changes in my life. Working for Uncle Sam at Los Alamos, New Mexico, also the Casinos in Galveston, Texas and ending up with the famous Santa Fe Railroad brought forth some extreme developments. There were other incidents which left me in tears. Although I recovered after each happening and forgave myself for past mistakes, I thought, "I won't do that again.
