I've read a few Konsalik novels as part of my on-going quest to learn German. This is the first one that hasn't dealt with a WWII theme, which I found refreshing. Konsalik proves in this work that he has a humorous side. The story concerns a married couple (he an architect and she a housewife) who find their marriage has lost its spark. They decide to take separate vacations one summer in order to see if they can be happy away from one another. A number of farcical situations ensue, culminating in the expected happy ending.
