Bittern is the second novel by Iranian novelist and screenwriter Mohammad Abedi.
This novel is the story of a sculptor who has suffered amnesia in his own sculptural workshop, and all he knows is that he is the creator of these sculptures. He seeks to discover the truth about his existence, his past, and why he exists. He will step in any way to understand his existence.
The novel that follows Lictor's novel, which has been translated into more than 15 languages, is now being translated into 20 languages.

In a part of the novel we read:
The gun and the bow are akin. Life, with its pleasure and pain, beauty and ugliness, coexist. Yet, it is invariably ugliness that prevails, pain overshadows pleasure. Pain assumes the form of a massive rock, while pleasure remains as a minute pomegranate seed.
