Sandra Johnson is confronted by her past when two U.S. Marshals show up at her business to inform her that her former fianc e, Mark Franklin, has escaped prison. The news shakes her and she wants nothing better than to slam the door on the Marshals and pretend it was a nightmare. Except there is one problem. She finds him irritating, arrogant and way too attractive. No matter how well he does his job, including ignoring her, she refuses to succumb to lust. She had sucked at chemistry in school so she has no reason to trust it now.Trey Walker is one of the U.S. Marshal's top-notch agents. He's does everything by the book. Although he likes the strength and determination Sandra exhibits, he's unsettled by how drawn he is to her fortitude and sarcasm, and her eyes. Those green eyes could almost undo him if he didn't stick to the business at hand. He knew she was practiced at hiding her pain, but, if you looked close enough, you could detect the depth of her sorrow and the suffering she had been dealt. Mark Franklin has revenge in mind. For the past three years he has been in prison, he has carefully planned the demise of Sandra. He would make sure she would regret the day she turned him in for embezzling and he would make sure she knew it. Patience was the key and he had plenty of that. He had been practicing patience for too many years to mess up his goal now.
