The Wedding Dress Guy Tells All

They say marriages are made in Heaven. But so is thunder and lightning. ~Clint Eastwood Soon to be cookbook author, Larry Star, is famous for selling his ex-wife's wedding dress on eBay. Now he uncovers the humor and disasters lurking in the typical relationship that follows the traditional dating to marriage route. In the process of making you fall off the couch laughing, he reveals a very troubling side of neglecting and sabotaging your relationship through a series of satirical plots and witty dialogue. With tips like: "Keep a chocolate bar within easy reach," you can't help but love the humor. Larry Star vividly describes situations in which he must endure the demands of the princess with pink nails he married. Did he imagine her to be low maintenance? He trades in his low-maintenance girlfriend for a woman who knows the meaning of SPA. Many of the situations are amusing takes on reality and Larry Star has real talent for creating atmosphere. I had a good giggle over his story of the girlfriend's grandmother's house and the cats. His logic for proposing at the zoo is endearing. The shocking rearranging of the letters in "marriage" was enlightening. From Shrimp Salad Fiasco to the witty conclusions in each "lesson learned," this book is a fun ride that leaves you wishing his wife had displayed more of a sense of humor. While we don't really hear her side of the story, it did seem she didn't appreciate his wit or appreciation for freedom. This is a good example of how sarcasm destroys, why a housekeeper could save a relationship and why humor is a much-needed element in every area of life. Sarcasm and Romance don't mix, but they can be darn funny in retrospect. I think Larry got what he really wanted, but then he wasn't prepared for a woman who took her life more seriously and cared about her family and friends on a deep level. The "tube of stuff" he finds under the sink is actually a "star" beauty secret that can make you look thinner if applied on the stomach, etc. This girl was pretty smart if you ask me, she knew about Bio-Dyne. A captivating read with a slightly less than happily-ever-after ending. Would she have responded better to love than sarcasm? Bitter-Sweet Remedy

Having recently been divorced myself, I began my read with apprehension, thinking that perhaps this was truely a "bitter" book, bent on bashing the opposition. Being of the same gender as the opposition, and an ex-wife to-boot, I feared that this might not be to my liking. To my delight and complete amusement, it is an entirely hilarious account of humanity, good, bad and missunderstood. I read the whole thing in two sittings, and for the second sitting I remembered to get the kleenex first. It's really hard to go for kleenex when you can't read because your eyes are full of tears from laughing so hard you are doubled over. A great book for anyone who is divorced, married, looking for their first or next future ex-husband/wife, single, or sworn to celebacy. Not just a good laugh, but a little insight for all of us.

Funniest book on male female realtionships for daily life

If you want to laugh out loud this is the book for you. What I found frightening was the fact that someone other then myself had also had these thoughts, I felt almost better knowing I was not the only insane person in the world when it comes to relationships...now that is frightening! Gals, what an insight to the things the male mind is capable of thinking, I mean we know that they are strange at best on their good days but...Oh my gosh, this is pure confirmation!!! Do you (guys) really use hair removal on your backs? The visual descriptions of scenes like this in the book had me rolling on the floor (laughing on the floor)...Larry's writing style gave me the ability to see the complete background of the room, the smells the body language, I don't know how you writers do it, I really enjoy good books , this book is amazingly funny and well worth the wait! Sorry my comments are not nearly enough as he has all the writing skills. I hope you all buy it, my co-workers love it, and are buying the books also!

Hilarious!

I found this book to be hysterically funny, but also insightful. I felt myself commiserating with the characters, while also being amused by their predicaments. Larry Star has a way with words! This book has something for everyone. I defy you to make it through the whole thing without bursting into riotous laughter at least once and finding yourself identifying with the characters as they stumble their way down that all-too-familiar rocky path of romantic entanglements!

Comedy Gold

I haven't laughed this much when reading a book in a very long time. I loved the Lesson Learned at the end of each chapter. Mr. Star writes with the average person in mind, who probably actually is going through something like what he talks about in his book. Highly recommended! I loved it!
