His 50 years in education included being a band director, adjunct college professor, assistant principal, principal, assistant superintendent, and superintendent. In 2018, he was selected as the state of Mississippi's Superintendent of the Year. In addition to his education career, Dr. Amacker served as minister of music for several churches and was a musician in the Gospel Four. He has written several songs that have been recorded by various groups. As the author of three previous books, Dr. Amacker is a motivational speaker for schools, colleges and churches. Moreover, he has a daily radio program and a YouTube channel. He and his wife Kathy have two children and three grandchildren.
