DCI Marcus Priestley investigates the apparent suicide of an artist. When a toxicology report indicates foul play, he sets about understanding the art world in order to apply his psychological approach to finding the perpetrator.
Marcus fully intends to remain faithful to his wife, but finds this increasingly difficult as he receives offers of sex from a number of women of various ages and backgrounds.
The story is essentially a humorous telling of the traps that can undermine the good intentions of even the most moral of husbands.
