"Bird Nest" centers on the lead character Dewey Farnsworth who inherited a small island in the South Pacific with a first rate airstrip left over from World War II. When a passing U.S. Navy aircraft carrier uses the island for target practice the war is on and with nothing more than dumb luck and an old hunting rifle Dewey manages to shoot down one of the offending fighter aircraft and capture the pilot. When news of the loss reach the carrier, helicopters are sent out to bring in the downed pilot and as the search and rescue teams set out to comb the island, Farnsworth and company trick them into surrendering. With prisoners in hand and a slight flicker of an idea, the bargaining began over the fate of the Sovereign Nation of Potanga. The rest is history as played out in this easy going romp in the sun-drenched South Pacific, with lively characters and a tweaking of the mighty.
