He was employed by The Norwegian Ministry of Environmetal Protection, the Universities of Oslo, Trondheim and Troms , the Norwegian Scientific Academy Society's Museum in Trondheim and the National Directorate for Game Research, aslo in Trondheim. The book describes the early history of environmental conservation in Norway, the the field surveys, the published results and the author's professional and personal involvement in both the science and the history of several of the surveyed areas.
