Sports injuries are a topic of great social relevance due to the rising number of active athletes. One of the most serious sports injuries is an injury to the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in the knee joint. Often, affected athletes make a sudden change of direction, placing a load on the ACL that exceeds its limits. The mechanisms causing the injury are a combination of valgus alignment and internal rotation in a nearly extended knee joint at the moment of foot contact, which results in high ground reaction forces. This study investigated the extent to which the technique and knee moments of American football players and soccer players differ.
