Post-operative to oral surgical procedures, biofilms can develop on membranes, wound drainages, metal implants, or sutures.wound complications such as infection, wound dehiscence, local hematoma, delayed healing or ugly scar formation could be attributed to suture materials.Consequences are the inflammation of the surrounding tissues and the formation of a reservoir for pathogens. In such biofilms, bacteria are hidden from host immune responses and are much less susceptible to antibiotics.
