Plastics become waste as quickly as they are purchased, since most of them are not reusable as in the case of packaging, becoming the main source of pollution in the environment. Its main feature of having a long shelf life is the same that makes them harmful to the planet, because they need long periods of time for degradation. This has reached the point that our oceans are flooded with this product, because most of the inorganic waste in the environment is from this type of waste, the same that end up in the sea. This waste is mostly mistaken as food by birds and other species, who consume it and end up dying. Also, the chemical substances produced by the decomposition of conventional plastics cause soil contamination by accumulating toxic substances in it. While it is true that plastics supply a lot of needs in the population, these should be friendly to the environment, which is why it seeks to develop new products that can replace it without being harmful as this.
