Book Overview

Caulder Rovana, a Romany Gypsy, was blissfully happy living his secret life while sequestering his real identity. Although his existence is much more mundane, he relishes in it, and the many blessings he has acquired-a true friend in Kara Greer, a mischievous raven as his devoted pet, and a partner adores in Mr Wu. Everything was flowing along so wonderfully until the day Mr Wu suddenly vanishes without a word. On a saving note, a beautiful little bunny mysteriously shows up on Caulder's doorstep. So taken by the rabbit, even naming it Bindibun, the Gypsy embraces the little creature with deep affection-his first mistake-its sweet disposition and luxurious pelt soothe his grief for Mr Wu. Within a week, the fluffy bunny's personality takes a nasty turn, and all hell breaks loose. Caulder kicks the rabbit out, but in doing so, is consumed by guilt over what he may have unleashed on an unsuspecting world. The reign of terror begins. Tasting human flesh, the rabbit's appetite goes from carrots to blood. Before long, four innocent victims come face to face with the furry, self-centred little demon, meeting their untimely demise. With each new meal, she grows more potent, larger and nastier. Of course, Bindibun views it as her climb to success and posterity. She is an arrogant piece of fur that justifies all her deeds of terror, finding comedy in them all.A gentleman who enjoys good fashion sense, herb tea, and his friends, Caulder's tendency to disregard directions when making his so-called "mixtures" cause more than his share of mishaps. The haunting feelings he has about the rabbit will not let him rest. He delves into Mr Wu's ancient Chinese Book of Spells and discovers a handwritten note on the Fu, a very special bunny-special but also diabolically wicked. Caulder's past beckons to be free, and soon his Romany blood ignites the extraordinary powers he possesses, as well as one he tries to keep at bay when the moon is full. Begrudgingly he accepts his mission to protect his friend Kara as well as other innocents. What ensues is a tale of a possessed rabbit with no recollection of her bunny hood and progresses from bopping field mice over the head just for fun to using the same technique on larger prey. Binidbun is arrogant, evil, selfish and narcissistic, and her drink of choice is- blood! An irreverent adult fairytale full of laughs and insight, the tale will cause one to view rabbits in an entirely new light. While it is clear that Mr Wu and Caulder Rovana have a "special" relationship, it is not detailed, and there is nothing vulgar written, highlighting only that they care for one another. Bindubun Mark of the Fu is a whimsical tale with a bit of horror, many laughs and an exciting story of how the rotten rabbit comes into being, evolves and ultimately must be dealt with. The ending has a surprising twist, as the rabbit meets the wolf and the Gypsy reconnects with his lost friend.
