Billy the Nut Seller

This book follows "Billy", probably the last remaining Red Squirrel in London. He lives in a small suburban garden but, without too many trees around him, has to work hard to find the nuts that he and his friends rely on to produce the everyday items they need. Like his ancestors before him, Billy is very good at nut collecting and dreams of one day becoming the Supreme Nut Seller in the garden.

The story was originally written by Josh whilst in Year 4 at Primary School (then aged just 9) as his first entry into a National, children's writing competition. The story made it through the preliminary rounds but sadly didn't win.

Coming to the end of his BTEC Art and Design course, needing an end of year assignment and, having just completed the illustrations for a fellow author's book, decided it was time to bring Billy to life via a fully illustrated children's book.

Those of you familiar with Josh's work will recognise the name "Billy" as the main character from his earlier book "Bulb - A lIght Hearted Tale". Whilst they share many of the same traits, they are not the same characters - Billy is simply a name that Josh has applied to many of the characters he has produced during his young career and hopefully you will get to meet more of them in his future, planned works.
