Newark, New Jersey, 1953. Billy LaMonica from the neighborhood, born and raised in the First Ward, otherwise known as Newark's Little Italy, does his best to do what's right, but it doesn't always land that way. It's a sweltering July night. Billy goes out for a cold beer and finds himself thrown into a life & death tailspin involving a robbery, a slew of local characters, and a Chevrolet. Although this is a fictitious imagining of an incident taking place on that Newark summer evening in 1953, it is also an incident you might very well hear from someone on the next barstool over, grabbing your ear down at the corner tavern, and over a couple'a two-three Rheingolds, a pack of Blind Robbins and a chain of Viceroys, telling you a few good stories from the old First Ward.(Contains strong language).
