Bike 2 DC: Ride to Honor

The cycling journey described in this book began in 2007. Every year, in remembrance of our fellow officers who have lost their lives while performing their duties, we travel more than 500 miles from Charlotte, NC to Washington, DC. There is hardly much flat terrain between Charlotte and Washington, DC, so the ride is not simple. Every town and city we pass through on the journey serves as a reminder of the people in our home agencies. We are able to celebrate those who have given their all for the community they serve over the course of four days because of the kindness and generosity of corporations and private residents. On Monday, May 9, the trip leaves the police headquarters early in the morning. After four strenuous days of riding, we will reach Washington, DC, in time for the National Law Enforcement Officers' Memorial Candlelight Vigil.
