A hockey team captain and a bubbly staffer mix business with pleasure when they start fake dating through the wedding season in this hot sports romance perfect for fans of Mariana Zapata and Elle Kennedy. Darcy Kendrick is used to putting out fires. As an overworked admin to a hockey team, she's seen it all. But nothing prepares her for accidentally DMing her very private, very NSFW fantasy to the subject of this fantasy: team captain Eric Tremaine. Nobody actually dies of embarrassment. Right? But when a wedding invite puts them on a collision course with her chaotic family and his emotionally fraught past, Eric suggests a plan: they fake-date their way through the "Wedding Experience." It's mutually beneficial. Totally strategic. And definitely not real. Except between mini tacos, slow dances and lingering glances, Eric starts to wonder if the sharp-tongued assistant with a bottomless to-do list might be the one person who truly sees him. And for Darcy? The fire in her heart might be the only one she can't put out. It's supposed to be fake. It's supposed to be temporary. So why is it so hard to walk away?

When Darcy is not dealing with being the admin for the New York Legends hockey team, she fantasizes about the team captain, Eric. And after accidentally DMing him about her fantasies meant for her bestfriend, Eric took this as an oppurtunity to fake date Darcy in a wedding they were both invited to and try to keep the peace for both of their families.
I read the first book of the series and I loved it. It showed some snippets of the couple in this second book and I couldn't be more excited. And this one didn't fail either. I loved this book a lot!
My first impression of this was the book description saying that it centered around a wedding both were invited to, and I got disappointed. It really looks like it might be just me, but I like my sports romance to actually have sports in it. However, it has hockey in it! Yay! I was so glad to see a glimpse of summer training and even the culture, and behind the scenes of professional hockey.
Now, for the story... the flow was so good! I'm truly loving the author on how she pieced the plot together. I love the family drama for both of Darcy and Eric's sides of the family. They felt real and you can't help but root for both of them. I also loved how their personalities shine through. Both the main characters felt solid and you understand why they do the things they do.
The romance was adorable for me. I love how it started, I loved how they were during the fake relationship, and I thought the way they ended up together was something so sure. I love the understanding and patience they give each other. The spice was such a bonus. I loved the care, want, and yearning. And I felt it was the perfect amount.
I swear. looking back now and remembering the story, I don't seem to find anything I disliked about it. I feel like there were no loose ends, and I felt the story was realistic.
We didn't get a whole lot about the next couple in the series, but I'm looking forward to meeting them soon. i am loving on the next player though, and excited for his story. That's how much I'm loving this series.
