Kihntinously getting better!

This is Greg's 3rd book. I've been reading them back-to-back, and he simply keeps getting better with every one of them!After a completely different cast in his second book, he returns to the characters from "Horrow Show" and transports them from 1957 to 1967, from the Golden Era of horror schlock to the Summer of Love. Rock and Roll is the flavor of the day, and horror fimmaker Landis Woodley continues to ply his trade while trying to jump on the bandwagon.The result is, once again, a delightful mix of misfits. This book does best when drawing characters in a way that is comical, over-the-top, hip and plain weird. The plot focuses, once again, mostly on drawing exciting scenarios without any great message or moral to the story. Rather than a symphony, we get delightful little riffs--and that's what fluffy entertainment is all about. I loved it!

AS MUCH FUN AS HORROR SHOW!!!!

I ACTUALLY EXPECTED NOT TO BE AS HAPPY WITH THIS ONE AS I LOVED 'HORROR SHOW'. MR. KIHN DID NOT DISAPPOINT ME! THIS ONE IS GREAT TOO! CAN'T WAIT TO FIND OUT WHAT LANDIS IS DOING IN THE 70'S!!!

Fact or Fiction?

I have not read Kihn's earlier works, but I will after reading Big Rock Beat! This story is as crazy as some of those recanted on his morning radio program. If I did not know better, I would say that Greg may have encountered some of these strange characters and escapades during his years as a rocker. Big Rock Beat is a quick paced and funny! Verboramo at its best - Great job Greg!

LA music scene, James Dean's car & the Devil all together

Yup, its got it all. Plus, this is probably the best view of how the LA music scene operates that I've ever read. Even though it is a very funny and very scarey story, it rings true! Greg's been there. Really there. And he lives to tell it!

Lights, Camera, Curse, Action!!

This is a wonderful sequel to Horror Show. I like that all the main characters are back, plus a whole schlock of new ones as well. I'll leave the summary to what's already printed above and just focus on the "fun" factor of this book. Greg Kihn has managed to treat us to a) a dose of the "L.A. Scene" back in the late 60's, b) a lesson in film and album creation/marketing, c) a ton of varied, wacky, and interesting characters, and d) a great story line to tie it all together!The only negative sides of this book have nothing to do with the author. They involve a poor lack of proofreading. I counted numerous spelling and editing errors. This may be common for a first edition book, however. Even so, Tor/Forge should have done a better job, and I expect that they'll be corrected for future editions.
