Big Enough

Big Enough is one of my husbands favorite books, he had a copy when he was young and it got lost. I ordered this one for him, received it in just a few days and it is in very good condition. He is very pleased with it.

A wonderful horse story

One of my favorite horse stories, this book tells about the "partnership" between a young man and his horse. Born on the same day, the two have adventures together as they both grow up. Billy becomes a man and a competent cowboy. This is what he has always wanted to be. His horse, Big Enough, helps him accomplish his goals. It's a simple story but with plenty of action and Will James's lovely illustrations.

Great Story by a Great Storyteller

This was the first Will James book I read. I was about ten I guess, that would have been 15 years ago, and after finishing it I called every out-of-print bookstore in the city (Will James books had been out of print for 30 years by that point) and bought and devoured every one I could get my hands on. I still get excited if I find a nice pristine first edition, and have a medium sized collection. James is a beautiful storyteller. Reading one of his books is like having a wonderful experience shared with you by a close friend. He doesn't use flowery prose or even proper english, but his characters immediately come to life and burrow their way into your heart. You can taste the trail dust and feel the reigns in your hand as you ride along with him.Fantastic for kids, great for grown up kids too, especially those who dreamed of being a cowboy when they were a youngster.

Wonderful story about a man and his horse and coming of age

James is a wonderful story teller. He knew the west, the horses, and the men he penned. The characters ring true and they are all damn good hands. The truth in his writing and his art is helping to preserve at least a memory of Montana ranch country.
